## Formulas

hardware(n) = kit purchase price if buying; or rent_per_month × n if renting Standard
taxable(n) = hardware(n) + monthly_service × n + surcharge + install
tax(n) = taxable(n) × tax_rate
electricity_month = (watts / 1000) × 24 × (365.25 / 12) × dollars_per_kWh
TCO(n) = taxable(n) + tax(n) + electricity_month × n
Month-1 uses n = 1 for hardware/service/electricity; surcharge and install are one-time
Year-1 uses n = 12; optional 3-year uses n = 36

Residential vs Roam comparison applies the surcharge to Residential only (Roam modeled at $0 surcharge).
If roam_monthly > residential_monthly: break_even_months = surcharge / (roam_monthly − residential_monthly)
If roam_monthly ≤ residential_monthly: any surcharge > 0 makes Residential more expensive from month 1

Electricity is optional and not taxed in this model. Watts default 50 (range 30–75).
